About the Book: This book, published June 2007, provides a solid background in the workings of the sole digital radio broadcasting technology adopted in the USA-- "IBOC". IBOC stands for "In-Band/On-Channel" which describes the innovative technique of embedding a hybrid analog/digital radio signal in one broadcast channel. IBOC is the generic name for the transmission and reception component of HD Radio technology. The IBOC Handbook is divided into three sections that address: 1.) the digital audio media marketplace and the adoption of the National Radio Systems Committee IBOC standard, 2.) the structure of the IBOC communication protocols based on the NRSC-5-A standard, and 3.) transmission and reception issues for AM and FM IBOC signals.
